JonBenét Ramsey: Why the Case Stays Open

JonBenét Ramsey was found dead in her family's Boulder, Colorado home the day after Christmas in 1996. Nearly three decades later, no one has been charged, and the case remains officially open.

Much of the renewed hope rests on DNA. The samples collected at the time were limited by the technology of the era, and there has been a sustained push to apply newer testing methods that simply did not exist when the case began.

The Ramsey case is also a study in how early media coverage can set a public narrative long before the evidence is settled. Our aim is to keep those two things apart.
